Thursday, 3 November 2016 (315-316)

In anticipation of next Thursday's event, a reading from Michael Grossmann's Mnemosyne-Project (10 November, 19.30h, Kulturhaus Helferei, Breitinger Saal, Kirchgasse 13, 8001 Zürich), the group did not continue the reading where it had left off but read some relevant passages instead on pages FW 315.34-316.33.

Of which some favourites here:

1

For “The Skibbereen Father”:

For “Sumer is icumen in”:

Bill alerts us here to Ezra Pound's version of this song, more suited to the season:

Ancient Music

Winter is icummen in,

Lhude sing Goddamm,
Raineth drop and staineth slop,

And how the wind doth ramm!

            Sing: Goddamm.
Skiddeth bus and sloppeth us,

An ague hath my ham.

Freezeth river, turneth liver,

            Damn you, sing: Goddamm.
Goddamm, Goddamm, 'tis why I am, Goddamm,

            So 'gainst the winter's balm.
Sing goddamm, damm, sing Goddamm.
Sing goddamm, sing goddamm, DAMM.
